Design Intent & Architectural Monograph
Komorebi House is an exploration of domestic serenity within an energetic urban context. Taking inspiration from the Japanese concept of sunlight filtering through woodland canopies (*komorebi*), the interior architecture orchestrates shadow, acoustic silence, and tactile warmth.
The original open layout was reconfigured into a sequence of quiet chambers separated by floor-to-ceiling slatted hinoki screens and fluted acoustic glass partitions. Storage is entirely concealed within monolithic wall planes veneered in quarter-cut smoked walnut and micro-cement plaster.
A bespoke sculptural kitchen island in unhoned Ceppo di Gré stone acts as the social anchor, flanked by recessed brass reveals and flush induction cooking surfaces. Every joinery joint, door pull, and light switch was custom-engineered specifically for this residence to ensure absolute sensory coherence.
